new trailer winch

Well just got a new 3speed gal winch coming with 7mm dynema for $72 i like the idea of useing the 17/1 gear and a battery drill.

My question now is will i need a brushless battery drill or will the good old ryobi do the job ive seen that most battery drills have between 40to50 nm torque is that enough.

On low speed it should be fine.
Use the clutch the first few times to learn how much power is needed.

Thanks if it works ok I’ll buy a Ozito brushless drill and use it for winching only they have a 5 yr warranty now win win.

I want to winch the boat up fast and get off the ramp i know those winches are good but id like to winch at 17to1 instead of 170to1 the battery drill to run a winch is only ok for smaller boats your winch is good for bigger boats.

I use the same sort of set up, one of the ramps I launch from has a big tidal run, so it allows me to hold a rope to the back of the boat and operate the winch from a distance. And for the others I can be away from the waters edge so I'm not tempting the food chain. My little 4m tinny has a 5000lb winch on it, does it plenty quick enough direct pull. I used to use smaller ones but they were too slow.

Yeah mate have always had one on my Boats, never looked back and so easy with the remote to wincback on the trailer..

My winch was on the verander this morning ,im very impressed with the quality and ive found a nice Milwaukee 7/16 hex to 1/2 drive i dont think it will ever break it, I can’t wait to launch the boat so i can winch it up again.

Have a 12v winch similar to Volvo above with remotes etc.Plugs into the Anderson plug at the back of our Landcruiser or Sprinter Campervan.

Have relocated the hand winch below just in case.

Looking forward to seeing how it goes mate, Mine was probably one of the videos you saw and I'm still using it 5 years later
It works really well and is pretty cheap compared to the other options plus you can use the drill for other things
