Has anyone been off shore in September at 1770 someone at work wants to get a charter together and I was wondering what the weather might be like at that time of year and what’s available to catch before I commit myself to a long 6 hour plus journey and a 50/50 chance on the weather.

Funchy has used Davo (not sure of the charter mame but an find out) from 1770, he has had many a trip cancelled due to weather, not sure about September though. That's a really funny month, it can be dead calm but other times extreme, it's a month of exasperation.

Chris have you thought about Rainbow beach fishing charter company https://keelyrosefishingcharters.com.au/ this mob get the runs on the board and are way popular, they leave from the caravan park so you could stay the night before in a cabin and at the end of the day they have filleting facilities.
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......

Yer as I said it’s a long ways to go for it to be cancelled alright if you live close by if it’s not blowing from the SE it will be from the NE.
I reckon Bluefin has a reasonable solution. Keely Rose has a good reputation, closer to home and I'd be willing to make up the numbers for a trip if you came up short.
The charters from 1770 are mostly inside of the islands I thought so the closer location is better as it still does the reefs off Double Island, Fraser etc.
Also there is the Noosa charters, they do runs up to DI, I guess you'd have to talk to them about those trips.

Charters out of Rainbow are preferred, but they are seriously booked out 12 months and more in advance.
Keely Rose and Rainbow Escape. Best charters on the East coast... and I will add Rob ( Smithy ) from the Sunny Coast is right up there with these guys.
Depends on how many people on the charter that you are a part of, there is a FB page called " Fill My Charter " and lots of business's post on there for last minute vacancies.
Out of 1770..... a couple of charters from here.
IMO, you will get fish, but the overall size / quality is poor compared to Off Fraser Island. ( ex- Rainbow / Tin Can Bay ).
There are boats leaving Urangan ( Hervey Bay ) that go over Break Sea Spit and fish the rich waters on the northern end of Fraser.
September at 1770 is good. This is when we used to have our M & G's... the week ( 2 weeks for some of us ) prior to School holidays.
September and October have the most consistent days weather wise, meaning although it may blow, you can get 2 ,3 or more days in a row, where the weather plays the game and you can fish offshore each day.
Yep.... Sept / Oct is usually S/E in the morning and a N/E in the arvo.
The downside to any charter and also rec fishing, is the distance you travel. expect a 2 journey each way. can be less, if you know the area. insert wink wink... !! ><>

Oh the good ole days. Remember these well, I think my first was 2007, was a great week (or 2) down there. Would take my tinny down a week early and leave it at Tony's (Agnes Bait and Tackle) then take the Cruise Craft down when heading down on the first weekend.
Miss those catch-ups, and the cook ups.
