    Retractable ratchet straps

Anyone used these. Skipper got a pair from bunns and Says they go OK but the reviews are pretty ordinary so I'm wondering has anyone used them and I noticed there are some from other fishing shops et cetera any ideas?

    Re: Retractable ratchet straps

It is hard to find a robust stainless steel version with 3m of strap.
If you wanted short straps to 1.2m then there is a selection.
I had a pair for my kayak years ago bolted to my racks, they were ok but needed plenty of lube regularly to stop binding.

Retractable straps also have a rather low SWL capacity....lots less than the std rachet strap with the same webbing....presume this is because you are tightening over untensioned strap and not tight strap.

I'm surprised he didn't hit the retractable ratchet straps with some saltaway or silicone considering they get drowned.
One of the sad signs of our times is that we have demonized those who produce, subsidized those who refuse to produce and canonized those who complain.

I think i would rather use the good stainless ratchet straps and put them on ,the yanks are very lazy in some areas, its only 30seconds to put on and tighten up 2 straps.
