Is it my memory or has Raymarine dropped the specs on the Cam 300, it only mentions 33' coverage with infra-red and only an IP66, for a marine environment I would expect a little higher given it can be mounted outside.

its certanly not out to compete against long range cameras. its more of a vessel monitoring camera that performs better in the dark to the older 220 models.

Anything that helps is worthwhile, many a trip up to of Fraser Island we've managed to avoid whales at dusk and after, especially going through the 14 mile breaksea spit area. The bloody things play till well after midnight then sleep till about 8am, many a swell we've had to avoid being a whale asleep. Getting harder each year.
