Any Yamaha 25hp four stroke owners ?

Finally got a chance to start the new outboard and surprised at how rough the idle is

the last three 50s I’ve had you can hold your hand on them and just feel some vibration here as this thing bounces around

may be normal may be not so thought I’d ask. Dealer isn’t open till Wednesday to enquire

Apart from checking all the leads have a good connection I really can't help you other than to sympathise with your dilema. Surely the dealer did do a pre delivery check.

Apart from that have good and safe Christmas Steve.

Thanks dignity and to you as well

seems it’s normal for this motor
just a bit suprised as the Yamaha 25 and 30 high tech two strokes I’ve owned have had less vibration at idle

Have had the boat out a few times and doubt I ever would have said it but I’m disappointed with a Yamaha

id be looking at something else in this hp range
Rattly at idle and start of rev range and just seems slow
Revs to 5900 rpm and engine height is ok

22 knots on a 390 explorer with one person one deep cycle some gear and a bow mount

Damn, must be a bummer to be disappointed in a new motor!

TBH I cant really see any advantage of 4 stroke over 2 stroke in that size range..its a bit of a wank really ..

I have a 2005 yammie 15hp 2 stroke on my 385 explorer ..it does about 19 knots with a couple of blokes and gear...still planes nicely with up to 3 people...

It was my dads boat...I think he may have had it serviced once maybe twice since new and I have had it 3 years now...I dropped the leg and checked the impeller (still good), plugs are still good...motor only weighs 30 odd kgs...just so cheap to run with so little maintenance...

I actually looked at a cheap 2nd hand Yammie 4 stroke 25hp for it a couple of years back (bloke upgraded to Merc)..really liked the electric start but then figured how hard is it to pull a starter rope anyway..it certainly wasnt quiet and smooth when run and clunky to get into gear..

Glad I stuck with the 2 stroke..the boat costs me nothing but rego and a bit of fuel...

Anyway been catching any Cod, Steve...?...focus on the fish, mate....the boats just a tool to get you there and back..

Agreed Dis. 40hp and below I’d stick to 2 stroke if I could.

Bit difficult to buy a two stroke now, good or bad, that issue is moot!

Just hang on a minute Noel... 2 stroke isnt quite dead yet..
BRP are still pushing the Rotax Stealth outboard on the Quintrex and on a couple of American brands they also own..

I’m stuck with it as I bought it lol
so will just have to put up with it, I just expected a smooth running Yamaha like every other one I’ve owned

Apparently the latest f25 has had a balance shaft arrangement removed to lower the overall weight

disorderly no cod so far just a work out casting lures
