    Shovelnose

Sometime back i was fishing in some rather shallow water in the hope of a nice big Bluey or Grunter comming by pay a visit.
Stingrays and Shovelnose Sharks as i know them by were a plenty wasting ample tackle !! and rather annoying to say the least.
As we were thinking of moving , couple of Fisheries on these water trykes come along politely doing safety checks , Flares , safety vests etc.
They asked how we were going and replied how annoyed we were with the amount of shovelies and stingrays we were cathing!!.
One of the Fisheries Politely informs us how tasty the Shoverlies were and thats why you can only keep one by law ??!!.
left it at that scratching my noggin with his rerply and the other day i caught what i thought was a medium sized one , actually less than medium as ive caught monsters where these species are concerned ..
Being annoyed with this catch i decided there n then, "Sorry Buddy but ya gunna get cut up n Filletted ".
Missus was having a go at me all the rest of the day for doing so and had me thinking if ide done the right thing??..
Two nice sized Fillets one off each side of the Fish came home and yesterday i got the Missus to cut n Fry some of the Fillets and was surprised at the taste !!.
To the point it wont be the last Shovely that will be comming home with me lol , so long as it isnt the size of most we catch (Huge )..
Anyhoos how many onboard have had a try of these species??...

We’re you on the site some years back when we had the member “Verminator”? He kept all that sort of stuff from Moreton Bay - including catfish. Reckoned they all made great eating. He was a Pom though.
