    WAAS Option in Simrad

In Australia, is there any value (or liability) in turning on the WAAS/MSAS/EGNOS setting that is available via the NMEA2000 device configuration (for the NR8 iGPS device) in my Simrad NSS8?
I basically understand what WAAS is, and that it's mostly deployed in North America, but I have no idea about the other listed acronyms or if there is any support in our part of the world.

Configuration item pictured below for clarification:

Short answer is , no benefit as Selective Availability was turned off a long time ago.
One of the sad signs of our times is that we have demonized those who produce, subsidized those who refuse to produce and canonized those who complain.

WAAS = Wide Area Augmentation System (USA)
MSAG = Multi-functional Satellite Augmentation System (Japan)
EGNOS = European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (Europe)

Zero support in Australia. No value in enabling it here and might slow the unit down; can't imagine there being any liability attached though - it affects nothing but your device.

The Southern Positioning Augmentation Network (SouthPAN) is a our satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) covering Australia + NZ, but it only entered service last month and won't be certified for safety-of-life until 2028. With any luck there might be a firmware update for your SIMRAD down the track that adds SouthPAN.

with a good GPS antenna, you can get sub 1mt accuracy. ive had 30cm accuracy before, far more than what i need for a boat
