    Sticky seats

The old Stacer needs some love. The seats have not swivelled in some time and I'm after ideas on how I free them up. The seat posts are just the usual aluminium. I sprayed a heap of Inox around the base to let it seep in.

Any solutions out there short of ripping up the floor and disassembling the lot?

Try a freezing gas or dry ice to try to shrink the post ...... it worked for me on my Hornet .

Have you tried a couple of hits under the seat to loosen it , it’s probably jammed in the spigot
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......

Crusty salt will certainly do that - I know when I got my seat post out ..... the attack on the aluminium was pretty bad & I ended up sanding the post . After that I always flushed out the spigot & gave it a spay of inox which worked a treat from then on . I did this from the outset with my Seajay ( never had an issue) ....... gotta love boats .

    Got it sorted (

Salt away, Inox, FBH and Stlisons did the trick.

Gave it all a good clean out and used a silicon type lubricant. Will be regularly pulling out and re-lubing

Thanks all for advice and big ups to Dignity for some gear.
