Yep, the local servo did drop to $1.97 this morning, still a long cry from the $1.59 befoe the invasion of Ukraine.

No one wants to read this crap..

Fuel is and always will be the biggest rip off known to man..

I had a family member work for Ampol/Caltex now Ampol again for 25 odd years...

If you knew what the refinery sold their fuel for you would be stunned..

The govt control the price of fuel, with all their add ons..

They can blame the war situation and it may be contributing to it, but in my opinion this is just the start of the recoup of our govt debt which we and our kids and maybe even their kids are going to be paying back for the rest of our/their lives..

Get used to it, the old user pays system ain't it a beauty...

Just remember - the fuel excise remains the same be it at $1 / lt or $3 / Lt ....... but yes the GST paid is 3 times higher .

The pump price is the gouge . ..... The cost of the fuel in their tanks just doesn't shoot up by 20 or 30% overnight

    Re: Fuel price

Unfortunately the servos get a phone call from the oil companies and are told what to charge. I saw the invoice for one of the local independents here and it was 4 cents a litre dearer than what she was charging, she said she'd already advertised her price for the day and still had enough older stock to manage. Most of the bigger oil owned companies here have been known to change mid morning to a higher price.

    Re: Fuel price

Given the price of fuel, will it affect the sale of boats? If our governments follow this stupid "green deal" the yanks are going to, and make fuel too dear to use, to push electric vehicles in the near future , are we going to be left with expensive toys?
I know in the scheme of things, fuel is still not the biggest cost , considering the cost of owning a boat, depending on how far one travels. More pressure will be put on closer fishing spots as a result i guess.
I just told the missus it'll cost over a thousand to fill from empty now,,,,,,,, and well "that's not happening ".
    More marriage pressures lol

    Re: Fuel price

Happy knowing that I have a full tank for next months trip & a few jerry cans that I filled just before the invasion ..... that's about $140 saved on the current price

Next months trip isn't too bad as I generally don't have to travel far to the marks 10-17 lts return .

August though will be a big hit (5000km tow) & running out to the reef (each day ... weather dependent)

Hopefully someone puts an end to this madness in the Ukraine before then ...... for their sake (& ours)
