Shortthenlong, do those burke ones breath? Like Gortex type material. Like Billy C i'm in the market for something reasonable quality as well. I have s et of full on stormline gear but to hot for the showery days, looking for a decent quality breathable 3/4 style jacket.

It's not light weight and has a couple of layers so I wouldn't call it super breathable. I have been wearing it around Brisbane at the moment and it has been good despite the high humidity.

Sorry for not a straight answer

No they're not the breaahable stuff, but in my experience breathable means water gets through. the burke onnes are pretty waterproof esp with rain pants on underneath. I need to wear a cap otherwise the rain gets in at the hood.

x2 on the hat under the hood. The 'peak' of the hood just doesn't come far enough forward. Which is good for being able to see out but not the driest

I know what you are saying. I would be prepared to cop a bit of sweat over being drenched from boat spray (fishing out of centre consoles).

I went to the big snake store and tried a Burke 3/4 - I liked it although I am not sure they had my size. I am normally an XL and tried on a large, t was still pretty big. Might try and find a medium before I buy.

Also looked at North Face and Kathmandu rain jackets. Felt nice but very lightweight and something just tells me to keep the rain / boat spray out you nee something thicker. I also do like the 3/4 length of the Burke. Keeping the coin slot dry is important as other have said.

Yeah I'm 6ft 85kg and I wear a small Burke. I could probably wear a medium but I prefer the sleeve shorter rather than longer

I have an open centre console with no ttop, so I need good wet weather / wind gear. Last year I purchased one of these Windrider jackets and pants combos. Very good bit of kit.

Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
    Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

Are there any stores that stock these or are the sizes fairly true? After trying on the Burke 3/4 where the sizes are all over the shop I’d be reluctant to buy over the net without knowing how they fit. I’m normally an XL - 6 foot 97kg (100kg after a good weekend of eating and XXXX drinking - ha ha)

I am 6' 2, and 100kg. Ordered XXL and jacket is comfortably roomy. (I like loose fitting clothing). Ordered XL for my father who is also 6'2 but 15kg lighter. Also quite large sizing, but comfortable.

The bib n brace is a bit long, but Velcro at the base holds them up.

These guys are in the US, and I ordered last April. Delivered in about 5 days.... no one stocks it locally.

I’ve had a few offshore jackets. For QLD the Aldi inoc ski jacket goes well. Being a ski jacket the sleeves zip open to release heat. 20k/20k goretex works well too.
