    Anchor Bungee

Hi, looking to get a bungee for my anchor so I can run a bow line on the new boat. 21ft boat so Ideally looking for a large rubber o-ring 4-6ft in circumference which I’ll splice on to, however no luck with trying to source either from commercial plumbing or hydraulics supplier to date. Anyone able to point me to where they’ve been able to get one?

Jarrad, I always used a large one of these as my shock absorber. They are a solid round rubber ring.

You can find these in many places. A good plumber supply shop will have or can get, and obviously at various places online.

    Cheers

    Re: Anchor Bungee

4 to 6 ft is a big bungee, I used 2 smaller 6 inch ones a metre apart for my big parachute anchor to stop that sudden stop that sometimes happens in a big swell. My method of splicing them in is to use 2 short pieces of rope, splice one on one side of the ring, and splice the other on the opposite side after looping the mainline enough to pick up the stretch. The first time I did it I cut the rope and spliced to the rubber ring, it perished over time and broke and I nearly lost my chute.
I have also seen a spear gun rubber used as a bungee, that might be an alternative.

Just get some 12mm bungee shock cord and splice that into your anchor rope with a 2 foot loop in the rope...quick and easy to do and nothing to weaken your main anchor line.
