What type of poly board to infill console

I have a 420 renegade and want to fill in the back of the console so I have both some weather protection for and a place to mount a garmin life scope black box to it

it’s not a large piece and havnt measured it yet but would be 600x600 at guess
needs to be solid uv stable and thick enough to take the weight of the black box and also a epirb mount

any recommendations in a plastic based product ?

Steve, Seaboard is very easily worked and as Col suggests try your local plastics place.

we have a basic perspex acrylic type place but anything more exotic I going to have to order in from Sydney or Melbourne
will give them a call tomorrow

One thing is certain, do NOT use cutting board from a shop, it will just fall to bits in the weather, there is a few proprietary brands available from boat shops (Sea board, Star board) but most plastics place sell you some, make sure you tell them it's exposed, the material is the stuff wheelie bins, eskies and Polycraft boats are made out of, HDPE I think it's called.

No, mine is a tiller steer, but I know what you mean.

I just used ply and covered it with the same floor carpet on my 440 SC. Looks pretty smart and plenty of strength for a fire extinguisher and epirb.

Yep, Noels on to it, HDPE, that's the stuff. I used it for all my packing, under rocket launcher, packing my new aluminium fuel tank, They have a huge variety in a shop down here.
It's pretty UV stable, it's inert to react with anything.

If you have an issue getting something, I can get it down here, easy to post it up...

It's always possible for a swinging loose hook to get you, but it's no different than being in a rod holder or anywhere else, rods stored that way is common and has been done for decades.

Yep absolutely , it's a staple for center consoles - has been for ever & a day
