Headed out 5am lowtide and across the bay was okay
Near Comby Point was a bit average with tide against NE wind
First stop 70m deep off Hutchies Reef for undersized pearlies
Out to 140m deep and current was pretty full on
80lb electric motor did the job and 10oz lead
I forgot to take premade snapper rigs so made rigs onboard doing paternoster knots I have not done in 35 years
3 boats visited and flashed by drifting before leaving with no joy
We fished until 11.30am when we had to leave with flat 100ah 24v lithium battery
We got to take home 5 snapper 1 pearlie 1 kingie and a Barcod
Threw back more than 20 pearlies just under 38cm
Got monstered by bigger kingfish and submarine cod
Bait was mullet squid pillies with no stand-out super bait just keep mixing it up
Only disappointment was fish were just starting to fire up when battery gave up
Going to add a bridge to boat electric system
Moved about wide off Caloundra for no keepers
Headed home mid arvo in a 15 to 20 knot NE
A nice day out
Saw the usual dolphins and whales atm
The seat is good Dig
It isn't perfect on short sharp chop bangs but sensational on the bigger stuff
Gotta put in the autopilot and sit back and it will work better
