Magnificent place to be living in FNQ I just wish myself and my family could move up that way permanently , enjoy [emoji106][emoji106][emoji41]
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......
Good going, I'd be up there also but the missus won't budge. Thought of leaving her behind regardless but then who would I argue with?
As far as day to day life is concerned living in FNQ is like most places...there is good and bad...plenty of people have visited in the dry season, fell in love with the place, then moved up here and after facing the reality of the wet season or a cyclone, sold up and moved back south again...
On the nature and fishing front, not much beats it though and living just 30 minutes from Hinchinbrook Island means that if its too windy to hit the Reef or the 25 nearby islands , you can still find some great sheltered fishing and crabbing without crowds ..quite a few old diggers retire around Tully Heads, Cardwell and Lucinda for that reason....
I lived and worked in quite a few places in FNQ when I was straight out of Uni and we spend time camping right along the coast as far up as Port Douglas before deciding to put down roots near Mission beach...it was the best place we could find that suited our lifestyle and with the reefs being the closest to the coast anywhere south of Cooktown and Cape Trib....
Now I just wish Covid was over and the hordes of Caravanners and covid refugee's would go home...I'm fed up with having to walk half a mile to park my trailer at the ramp...
and the wait will be worth it Brett with a new pair of Zukes and a bit of a refit...Give us an update when you take her for a spin...
