Running two GPS fish finders side by side with one transducer..

Can u run two Garmin 4 inch or two Lowrance 4 inch gps fish finders side by side and only use one transducer?

The Lowrance only has one power cable connected via the transducer

Option is a 5inch single fish finder gps for $400 or two 4 inch models for the same price, i want 1x 4in screen for fish 1x 4in screen for chartplotting

    Is it possible?

You are back Gaz..!..thought you were gone for good this time...

I dont know the answer to your question but I just wonder why you would want to do that..?

My advice is to save up and buy a 7 or 9 inch screen when they are on special or discontinued...I couldnt imagine using a 4-5 inch screen after having the larger ones now...even using a single 9 inch with split screen is a far sight better...

Welcome back Gazza. I totally agree with Disorderly. Don’t bother with 4” models you will regret it down the track. Save a little longer and get a larger screen.

I note that there is this Lowrance for sale at Anaconda for $699

Thought those little 4s only had a useful range of 50 m even though they claim more
bit useless for a 19 foot boat

and as the screen size is so small you will have fish under you it can’t physically show on the screen

I had one on my kayak and it was useless apart from depth and water temp, gave it to the neighbour and he uses it to tell the depth of his 100,000l in ground water tank

Gazza, got to agree, save up and get bigger. I put a 5" on my kayak thinking that's all I'd need, and bugger it, what am I doing now, looking for a bigger one. The 5" just isn't big enough even when only on plotter or sonar.

Cheers guys, the plan was to use the two 4" models one for detecting fish and the other for gps the two hook 2 4x models are only $270 at bcf as a club member, this idea was only for the tinny

I have navionics on my S8 phone but risky getting it wet

Do your homework and look at them on youtube and then make your mind up theres a bit on there about the units your looking at.

Jump on one of these instead if you can find some stock in Sydney....awesome unit and fantastic transducer for shallow to mid range water and side scan....a real step up from what you are looking at..it also has maps and is a great GPS as well whereas the striker you are looking at is not.....and if you decide to get another one you can use one transducer for both and link them together..

I have 2 of the 9 inch units and love them...

I have a 95sv uhd like disorderly it comes with maps and is good value for the coin
I upgraded to a 8410 and a 8412 and kept the 95sv for maps only on the console.

i had the older garmin strike 7 in my previous boat, was okay for the price, easy to use and would pick up the sinkers going down to a depth of about 25 mtres

For live scope id say the picture is twice as useful for finding fish in dams and about the same in down view traditional rear transducer stuff
    more adjustment and features
It’s just a better screen and the squarer screen shape suits live scope better
I’ve only used it a few times and havnt got it as good as other people’s boats I’ve seen the gpsmaps in use
