    Drones, anyone using them?

So I've been looking at Drones for a while now, I've always had a leaning towards the Mavic Pro range, but have been holding off till the Pro 3 comes out. Every time I go to check, there is more delays with the release of the Pro 3, apparently Aug-Sep this year, maybe.

Looking up reviews, now that the Air 2S is out, there is, as there is with all electronics, differing opinions as to what is the better way to use.

Is anyone currently using a drone for their fishing, if so, what are you using and how do you find it?
    Cheers

    Where's Gazza?
Hasn't been banned again has he?

Not a thread derail OP; just that he'd have some input here.

I have a mavic pro, well the wife does.

super easy to use basically fool proof if your sensible in its operation

need a dedicated person to follow. As you couldn’t fish and pay attention to it at the same time
I’ve crashed it once trying to get a phot and backed it into a tree and also had a hawk attack it and rip the camera off

Probably my fault, he had a go at Giddyup who was trying to help him and I just asked him to listen to what others had to say and he pissed off in a huffy claiming everyone was finger pointing. I do think the forum is more settled now, if I wanted every thought process from someone I'd be on FB, which I detest.

I was told about some guys up on Fraser island dropping baits on Spanish mackerel.

I have a phantom 4 pro. Use it at Fraser for slide baiting. Fly the weights out and then swim out live tailor on the slide rig.

What did you mean when you said “for fishing”?

If your interested in using it to drop baits a distance away over water, look up gannet, swellpro, cutacopter. Also check out the Gannet FB page or drone fishing Australia.

If your interested in video, the DJI stuff is hard to go past.

Not waterproof, but there are good prices on second hand Phantoms. The Mavics are smaller, so not suitable for dropping any baits of any size, but compact to transport if you just after some video.

Thanks for the replies, should of clarified the 'for fishing' part. Only want to use it to check out headlands and so forth before travelling there, and for videoing some of our antics when on good fish. Don't need it for running baits out.

I'm leaning towards either the Pro2 or Air 2S, reviews are pointing towards the Mavic Pro 3 being more commercialised. I will be buying new, although there is some good deals out there, not keen on electronics second hand, specially like this.
