Bit harder with mechanical's but I'm a big believer in not putting the boat away with wet brakes. I make a point of doing a lap of the block using the "panic button" to get the pads warm before putting the boat in the shed. Maybe lock them on lightly for a short drive. Stainless backed pads have helped a lot too if you can find them to suit your calipers.

I cant see why an aluminum disk is not being used we ran one on a speed car yes it was thick but it did not really ware and it was marine ally,then you could just has a gal hub with the ally rotor bolted to it.
