Hey guys reviving this thread but its not for the tinny n9w for the big boat, today i seen a lowrance HDS with a picture of the offshore water temps in a red to blue colour tempreture picture i think i need one for going offshore, can anyone tell me what i need to look for spec wise or where to get that kind of program? No cash atm but will plan yo get one soon if possible
This is what i want but on a fish finder gps unit
I may be wrong, but I don’t think you’ll find a finder/GPS combo that provides you with what you want. You’ll get the water temperature for where you are.
What you are talking about is satellite imaging, that shows the Sea Surface Temperature (SST).
Have a good read of this article
http://www.fishtrack.com/features/ho...nd-fish_106832
Sent from my iPad using Ausfish forums
It’s not like it changes by the hour
we just use to look at it in the days leading up and the night before and worked out how far to go
then used water colour and surface temp to work it out
costs nothing in hardware
so we can get real time weather/ sst etc on raymarine, so long as you have cellphone signal.

The screen i seen wasa Lowrance i think HDS but it was abig screen i cant afford $4000+, i was hopping it was just a add on purchase like maybe you download the prograb to your card but i guess im way off and u need a specific screen bugger
most MFDs will allow for GRIB files to be displayed. its just not always as sexy or neat.
The Raymarine system has a free and a pay for premium Grib viewer.. or even better they have a web broweser allowing you to load windy.com
Hey guys got alittle bit of money after selling my ac/dc tig nowlooking for a 5" or 7" combo i think i couldnt fit a 9" on my tiny console i need to fit a small 7" tablet on there too to run my mercury vessel view
Garmin still a good choice? Can any combo run bluetooth? Vessel view uses blue tooth or wifi
Bought a lowrance 9inch im going to mount a removable transducer mount so my dogs dont chew the transducer
Lowrance would have been my very last choice...IMO of course..
A decent dialled in sounder and transducer setup is one of the most valuable tools in the boat and should last you years..
You asked for opinions and people gave you theirs and then you ignore all that and go and buy the cheapest unit possible...
funny bloke..
Cheapest unit? The 9 inch garmin is around $800, the lowrance 9 inch was $950 garmin has a shortage atm and i didnt want to get held up with a order placed with no stock
