what ya's reckon??
I have one in my boat, it’s even got the extra 3D box to map out the bottom.

Me think that would be a little overkill

I have a Garmin 8412 in my alloy 4.5. Not overkill in any size boat. Personally I would go 8412 with GT56 over anything else. Garmin lead the game with this set up.

Having recently been using a 12 inch Garmin on a boat up here I know I will be getting as big a screen as I can fit on my next boat ,the definition is way better the bigger you go from what I’ve seen . Matt
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......
one of our 18.5" screens up front connected to a garmin 8410 on the helm
heres one side by side with a 8412 12" unit
Moose, is that boat setup for freshwater fishing with the unit exposed up on the front casting deck like that....?
For sure! The 8 series is full high definition too. Even the new Bird Axioms still haven't got the definition of the 8 series. Up until the 8 series and new GT56 transducer I would have braved Bird Solix ownership but not now.

What’s also pushing people to garmin is the live scope
It’s an amazing piece of kit but not a small investment in not only money but space battery and complexity of cables and mounts on the boat
Most useful Gaz thread ever. Great info guys.
