here you are gaz just scroll down to the vid, stats on vid. Take note of batt size and TIME at speed. ASk questions later Noel will be waiting.

Thats 40kw/h at what voltage? 36v is 1,100ah

But still it doesnt explain my theory, that tooqueedo whatever it is looks like direct 1:1 drive so its not efficient at all

A Kg of petrol, ie roughly a litre, gives about 10,000 Watts of energy.

A Kg of battery, using modern tech Tesla batteries as example, gives about 250 Watts of energy.

    A 10hp motor produces about 7500 Watts.

    A 7500 motor would take 80 mins to use 10,000 Watts (1 L petrol).

A 7500 motor would take 2 mins to use 250 Watts (1 Kg battery).

This ignores the fact that electric motors are a bit more efficient than petrol motors.

Yes those figures roughly tally with what I was thinking based on the Evoy recommendations.
8 batteries needed for a 7 metre boat (tho wouldn't a 150hp be a slug?). Thats 500 litres of space and over 600kg for the fuel source. Petrol version would have a 300 litre tank and so 300kg weight? Plus it would probably be a 250hp.
    Not quite there yet.

Thanks for putting a number on it Tj...

So based on your figures, a typical 6.5m boat with a 200hp will run for 6 seconds per KG of battery.

I wonder how that works out for with a typical reef trip for me of about 200-250 km's and then factoring in wind and tide as well...

I think we can safely say that current technology means that "gas power" for planing trailerboats will be about for some time to come...

Unless of course you tow a barge full of batteries behind you each fishing trip..

Now excuse me while I go and try and pull out gazza's lithium batteries from my fuel tank..

That works out 278 litres in fuel volume for that size of battery

Say if u run a 120v motor does that mean u get 120kwh

Hang on so lets go into that a little deeper how much will that cost to recharge? At say 30c per 1000watts at 240v

Email torqeedo and tell them they have no idea what they are doing
    https://www.torqeedo.com/en

the props are efficient as they have max torque from 0-to the 2-3000 rpm they spin at, you dont need a gearbox there is no benefit
mate just did his classic car and tried the gearbox route an kept buring clutches out so went direct drive and now no issues no difference to range or performance without the gearbox
he used a tesla motor and a single battery pack

and working out how many cells fit in the space of a 25l fuel tank we already have that now in 100 ah lithium batteries roughly 9kg and 3 would fit
