Do you really think a new "secret" motor would have correct stickers and markings?

There's a Formula 500 running the new engines that Boating Magazine tested and published pictures of, just cropped out the outboards. Supposedly that's the boat in the above image, who knows.

A 600hp OB would enable some of the big CCs to go from running trips and quads to just running twins I guess. Although knowing the loons in Florida they will still fit quads, so they can cruise to the fishing grounds at 200mph.

The reason the americans run triple and quad engines are they run 30-45 foot boats unlike us here u would only find a ciagrette boat in that length

Re: Mercury are making an announcement

That was already possible with Seven Marine's 627 OBs, though they've ceased production as of late 2020. The HCB Estrella 65 had five of them on the back for 3135hp. That was a supercharged v8 though not (presumably NA) V12.

    I guess if you're spending $US3m on a 65' centre console, US$450k on outboards is a bargain.

Re: Mercury are making an announcement

    Boat length isn’t the reason

they also trailer some of these boats when we can’t easily
shaft drive diesels arnt as easily trailable

    fuel is cheap
    outboards are cheap
    and American overkill at play

Re: Mercury are making an announcement

You also may notice some funky stuff with how america's streets are mapped out thewhole country tends to be vertical or horizontal unlike australia with roads bending all over the place, so the americans can easily tow 45 foot boats without the complications us aussies would have

That picture has gone from that Instagram account. Pulled for breaking a confidentiality agreement or was a photoshop all along? Seems like a small cowling to fit 12 cylinders.

I always thought of the Sevens as a vanity outboard, something flashy for the Miami millionaires but not practical for most people that put hours on their boats. Vast majority of super high end centre consoles appear to run Merc 450Rs, Yamaha 425s etc. If the 600hp engine is real, surely that's bad news for Yamaha.
