What's the recommended compression pressure on these motors out of the service manual? Can't find any free manuals on google.
    When I bought my boat the 115 Oceanpro had compressions of 124, 125, 125 & 125

What I read at the time, I think was that very good compression on a second hand was 110 to 130, but the main thing was that all cylinders should be within 10% of each other.

Had a look at the motor. Compression test looks good. Engine started and sounded ok.

The only thing is the mechanic did the gearcase leak test without draining the gear oil. Asked him to drain but he said 'it doesn't matter'. Any thoughts? Haven't managed to source the manual for this motor yet.

It held 8 psi for more than 10 seconds.

Sample of t the gear oil looks good but may have been recently changed without going in the water.

Not too sure a 10 second pressure "test" means anything, especially if it's still full of oil, also not a fan of "mechanics" who say things like "it doesn't matter"

the fact that it has 3 months warranty should be enough piece of mind, provided the boat/motor is used straight away. just check the oil colour a few times before the warranty runs out.

Sounds very much like my two 115 HP Old techs.

Wonderful, bullet proof motors as long as you keep the services up and don't run over a plastic bag and block the water inlets.

Racing scoop water inlets on the legs also boost water for great cooling

Reducing the spring pressure on the thermostats by locking two coils together also enhances cooling

Find an OMC Master Tech and the motor will outlast you.

Sounds ok looks like a normal running 2 stroke,

If u could get another $1500 u could get a second hand 115hp 4 stroke off the internet and have a reputible mobile mechsnic go over it first
