    Re: shrimp

Those freshwater shrimps are hard to keep alive for an extended period. What I do is put some in a cleaned out margarine tub to about half full and put a little bit of water in with them and freeze them.

Alternatively you can try putting them in a fish tank that's aerated or try buckets with a portable aeration device. You will get some casualties because shrimps don't survive for long once they are out of the water.

Try to fed them with a small amount of grated carrot and if you notice that they are eating it fed them more as you see it disappearing.

We have a 4ft fish tank with yabbies in it, we threw some shrimp in after a fishing trip in January this year and they lasted 6+ months. The yabbies eventually got them. We feed them with Crab Cuisine from the pet shop, the shrimp would grab the food no problem.

Just room temp, no heater or anything. Water is from our rain water tank, no other chemicals or anything added to the water.

    Re: shrimp

Shrimp can be kept for many weeks if you don’t over crowd them , starve them of oxygen or let them get too hot.
As shrimp are basically bottom dwellers they need their own space , otherwise they will fight . I increase their available space by putting a piece of old landing net in the tank , this effectively gives them more layers of area to sit in. Pump heaps of oxygen into the water especially in summer , use a filter to keep the water clean and then even do a 3/4 water change every couple of days especially if you encounter a few causalities.Give them a bit of weed to eat

    Re: shrimp

A std fresh water aquarium with good filtration and aeration will keep them alive for months.
Don't use town water....tank water or dam water.
