I just use Homeport.
not sure will hjave a look at both and see what works
for companies making sounders worth many thousands their interfaces with pcs are shite
HomePort is the proper Garmin software for their charts to pc work.
Homeport used here also, here's the link and it's free. but not as intuitive as I would like.

the active captain app should allow for a fair bit of waypoint management via a tablet. its not to bad usability wise
Yeah active captain I think mate...homeport says its compatible with g2 maps whereas you should have G3 on your new units.....
ok thank shave kinda worked homeport out just not the synching between pc and sounder via card yet
only have active captain on the phone will try an ipad and see if its any easier
lost my usb stick with 20 years worth of gps marks so have to start from scratch
I haven't tried with my new Garmin yet (it's primarily a radar) to see what file extensions they work with. The older units required a save to be done on a card - DON"T use your chart card, which would create a folder with the mark file in it - think it was adm file ( something like that anyway). We used to save the mark file in the pc as the same file name and type and then copy it back to the card - replacing what was there. Some new units though will accept a file in GPX format so try exporting in GPX and see if your unit will recognize it.
unit came with in built maps what ever brand garmin uses that is
will grab a few sd cards as think you can back the maps up as well
You should be able to use the normal .GPX or Garmin's .ADM file formats to save and/or upload the marks to Homeport.
