    1770 July

    Hi guys going to 1770 in July never been before just wondering what species are best to target at this time of year ( offshore ) . Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hi Craig, I live not that far away from 1770 and if you crack it with the weather you will have a great time. Depending on your boat size you should look at staying overnight at Lady Musgrave lagoon and fishing the near reefs. This time of year the whales are getting thicker so I prefer not to be in open water at night as the last few years they have been a bit too friendly. Fitzroy lagoon is another overnight option just further North with more shallow reef options like Sykes reef and Lamont Reef. The usual tropical reef species will be out there, ie. Red throat, grassies, Tuskies, Trout etc. If you go out deeper you can expect Snapper and Pearlies but dont forget the closed season from the 15th to the 15th August.

    From the 15th of what month to the 15th Aug? and for what species?

    Snapper and Pearl Perch from midnight 15 July to midnight 16th August.
