So I'm getting some conflicting advice and I wondered whether the forum could help me. I've put one of those intelligent things between my two batteries to preserve the starting battery and overflow goes to the house battery when the starting battery is full and protect draw down on the starting battery. The little intelligent thing has two positive leads 1 connecting to starter battery one to the house battery and it has a ground. The question is where do I attach the ground. Does it go to the negative of one of the batteries or do I ground it onto the boat with a bolt.
Goes to battery negative. On a 12 volt boat, all the negatives should be connected together by a good heavy cable so in theory it shouldn't matter which one, but the right way is the start battery negative.
