When a 4m+ blue marlin eats your pearlie

Cal wide Saturday and this thing gets onto rig - 3 droppers with 400lb mainline - and wraps it around it's beak
2 hours and 2km later including lots of circles 30 to 50
We had it sitting 3m alongside the boat - spectacular fish all lit up
We Motored forward and it shook off the dropper loop and swam away
    Probably had about 20 jumps
Good workout for bottom bouncing gear and my shoulders
Ella said I was moaning all night even in my sleep [emoji16]Click image for larger version.

Cracker. I caught my first black at the 33's on a paternoster rig and a squid years ago.

Of the last 5 trips to Hards mates onboard have hooked black marlin twice
One hit pillie on the bottom
    One smashed snapper boatside
Makes for a bit of excitement [emoji16]

rod still pointing down, fish jumping on surface 100 yards away, line slowly starts to rise, angler slowly connects the dots........ well these days braid has knocked a lot of the delay out of it, but it's still a great feeling.

It seems that there very hunger the bait might not have shown up yet for them to be hitting a snapper beside the boat and eating a pearly.

When I read 4m I was sceptical but then I enlarged the photo. My apologies. Nice baseball bat, that's a thumper of a blue. Good shot.
