    Old fibreglass boat disposal

I've got an old Sportsmancraft boat hull that's past it's use by date. Might have someone willing to take it away but if that falls through I need to get rid of it. Question is how to dispose of it legally, can I take it to the dump? Or would it be better to cut it up first?

Someone might take it my project boat is a 1960-1970 model that should have been trashed but i picked it up for a restore

See if someone on the forum would like it

Tips are not cheap i took my cabin, all insides, left.over stringers, old seats, all to the tip me and my cousin packed it all very neatly on the trailer so it looked a lit less than what was really there

I entered the tip with a whole motorcycle trailer filled and a boot full in the xtrail the lady charged me something like $90 on the way in and on the way out i had to pay 2 cents yes they actually made me pay it.. i think from memory the weight was 270kg or 290kg

I had a jetski i had sold in parts and had a empty hull a yamaha xl 1200 3 seater i called the same tip about disposal and was quoted $500

Put a mask on cut it up than take it to the tip if they ask what waste it is just say fibreglass dont say a boat

Hadn't thought of advertising it on here. Got a bloke who will take it for a carton if I deliver it to caloundra. If a fellow ausfisher is interested it's free, you pick it up. No trailer. Floor is pretty rotten, transom seems solid.

I take it your somewhere in SE QLD, down here in Redland shire, you can just take to the tip and they dispose of it!

Where are you based? Plenty of blokes looking for cheap fixeruper's. Could even be worth a quick call to a few glass repair mobs in your local area - good project for apprentices that they can turn into a few bucks.

    This is a good idea

There might be a school that would use it in a playground. Especially a regional/rural school if you can deliver it and if it's safe.

I ended up giving it to a bloke who lives just around the corner. He's off work injured and looking for something to keep him busy. I'm looking forward to seeing it back on the water.
