Anchor chain socks

Hi All
Just wondering if anyone has used these chain socks on their anchor chains? and what do you think of them?

Also trying to find one that suits 10mm shortlink but can only see up to 8mm, does anyone know of a different supplier that does this size?

Yeah mate got a similar one with the Gx3 anchor winch kit, they are pretty good and make a big difference cutting down the chain noise

If you have no luck - bicycle tyre inner tubes do a reasonable job .

Hi Tom. They certainly cut down anchor noise. I had ongoing problems with the ends fraying and detaching from the 6mm chain, despite multiple zip ties. Took it off after 6 months. Back to putting up with the clatter on the drum winch for a few minutes. Cheers SS.

have been installing them on winches for a fair few years, LSM have the thickest one IMO. giving it a decent life span, but takes up more room on t he drum obviously. we remove 10mt of rope from the back end when fitting chain guard to reduce the chance of bunching up. but yep.. good system for reducing noise.

Yep use the lone star sock, with plenty of zip ties and renew them every now and again. A must for shallow water whiting fishing, down side ( in Westernport) is that in deeper water it tends to bring up a couple of kilos of mud each time. Gotten in the habit of “washing” it by letting it hang a 30 seconds or so once the anchors off the bottom and the current tends to clean it up a bit, or even up and down it a bit. I’m normally in water a least twice as deep as my chain length when I have this mud problem so have plenty room.
