After talking to some dealers it appears that a simple fix even on the MG and Mk is not assured either ..depends on whether the components needed for repair are in stock in Australia...I'm told some repairs have taken up to a couple of months waiting on parts.....pretty hard to fathom when you can buy a gps or set of trim tabs on ebay from the USA and have them in a couple of weeks...
Getting parts for anything now is gwtting harder. I needed a grease nipple on my motor, it has 6 in all, Dealer didn't keep any stock and only 3 available from Yamaha in Sydney.
I have a 36v lithium set up 3x 12v batteries llinked through a battery control unit. Allows charging by 1, 36v lithium battery charger which was around $175. Charge after each trip no rooting around swapping charger to different batteries etc. a little expensive to set up but was absolutely wort the money.
google EV power Australia they specialise in set ups for caravans and also electric motor lithium set ups.
You can't talk to anyone at EV Power only email. That sure pissed me off big time.
See below a cut and paste from another thread some time ago when I had only just fitted my CALB 100's.
Hi Nagg,
I have just fitted lithium batteries to run the 24v Minn Kota. I went with 8 individual cells which ended up a lot easier to fit, 100 amps @ 24v and only 26kg. I tried EV Power in WA but they would not talk to me when I rang, the lady said I must email my questions. I really wanted to talk to someone as I was not sure I was on the right track. I didn't bother to email I rang EV Works also in WA and spoke to Tim Brunner for about 20 minutes and guess what placed an order for the batteries from him. I have spoken to him several times since and he has advised on a Battery monitor and other stuff which he was not selling, he just wanted me to get the right gear. I don't have an opinion yet on how they perform as fishing trips have been a bit of a rarity lately.

Scott,
The charger is from EV power Australia can be found on thier web site $185. It has been faultless.
Batteries need to be connected through a "Battery Control Unit" This unit controls discharge and recharge allowing for charging without the need for swapping charger between batteries.

Thanks Kemel K....Ev power is different to Ev works..?
TMC....used only 6-7 times in 12 months...!!!...thats almost criminal...
BTW what are we all wiring with....?....is 6mm with a 50 amp breaker adequate..?..and are we just putting a plug in the line so the motor can be disconnected and hooked up to the charger or whats the best way to be able to use the 36v charger..?
Yep Scott 2 different suppliers, TMC, is correct Rodney Dykes from EV Power Australia pretty much only deals with the public via email, now if you can get past that which is an issue for some including TMC, and don't worry me as well to start with they supply, advise and in some cases develop a lot of this lithium stuff. May not need aBCU. unit but for piece of mind in relation to charging and discharging correctly and efficiently imho are vital
Its my understanding that these batteries don't like being discharged below about 30% so if so if you don't have one how do you know accurately and quickly where you at. They are your fuel gauge so to speak. Charger plugs into B.C.U. with Anderson plug on my system.
Cant help with wiring or breaker size without asking my auto electrician.

[QUOTE=The Mad Cat;1659870]Hi Scott,
So far I can't fault them, but have only had them around 12 months and only been out 6 or seven times (work & weather getting in the way).
With regards to a BMS back then Tim suggested I would not need one.
Must have had a brain snap about the BMS. I'm using a Victron BMV-700.
Priced a 36v lithium ........$4300.... ouch was small and light but
BigE
save ya cash , yamaha is to release a outboard with built in electric thrusters in the drive leg to enable what the minn kota can do .
