    Sounder Mounting

I have a 3.7m tinny with tiller steer and want to install a Lowrance Hook2-5 Splitshot Sounder. I am wondering where/how other tinny owners have mounted their sounders so it is convenient to view/use but not in the way when not needed. Transducer mounting is not a problem. Photos appreciated.

    Re: Sounder Mounting

Pretty open question and googles shows thousands of photos of sounders mounted

All depends on what type of fishing you do
Without a console it’s normally on the gunnels or some type of ram mount

More info from you might prompt others who do similar types of fishing to respond

In my old 385 Stessco Squire I made a 'switch panel' and mounted my GPS and Sounder on it. It was then attached to two of the ribs near the rear seat.

In the new 420 Renegade, I have made a plate on the end of the starboard side (drivers side) aluminium side pocket, and then mounted the Sounder / GPS combo unit (Garmin Echomap Plus 65cv) onto it

I do not like sounders on the gunnel, either top or sides, as I think it exposes the wires to too much potential saltwater splash when underway.

I prefer to have my electronics mounted out of the way.

I'll see if I can upload a couple of pictures.

Excuse the mess, this shot was taken just after I had tested my wiring was working.

This is in the 420 Renegade.

The Garmin Echomap Plus 65cv came with a swivel mount base, so when fishing it can be turned to view the sounder etc while fishing, and then when back underway, can be swivelled back for clear viewing by the skipper.

Thanks guys I am an estuary fisher the boat is to lite for bay fishing. I am thinking of mounting it on a swivel arm something like a TV mount that will lay it back against the side of the boat when not needed.
Steve that garmin must cop a bit of spray.

Ive got one of these on the leading edge of the rear seat. Swings u against the side of the hull when not in use and swings out in front of me for viewing while underway.
