    Lillies beach Gladstone area

Hi all heading up to Lillie’s beach end of march boys trip 4 day midweek camping and am after a bit of info, I’d like to tow the boat up there and having a look on google earth the Bray Park ramp looks the go for launching, I believe the camping spot is towards the river mouth so was going to throw all the gear in the boat with a kayak and anchor off the low tide mark, after any tips from the local guys on here on the do’s and don’ts for the area, noticed a lot of green zone offshore so I’ll have to make sure the Raymarine axiom has all that covered
    Cheers
    Terry

I haven’t fished that area myself but I did work in Gladstone for a couple of weeks last year and I found the guy at TackleWorld very knowledgeable and happy to point me in the right direction as to where to fish, what methods to use and what to target.
Maybe give them a call and get a bit of advice for your trip.

Mate sent me this screen shot of the camping spot, looks like a good area but on the navionics the water depth doesn’t look appealing, good for tinnys i’d guess, the tides are good when we are going which is appealing though

What kind of fishing are you looking to do?

Highlighted creeks are good for grunter, flatties, bream etc, plenty more like those further upstream. Bridge obviously has good structure.
Off the beach has a few gutters, and the beach west of the campgrounds is quite steep and deep close to shore.

Standing on the beach looking southwest.
Circle is the bridge, blue arrows point to river mouths, red arrow back to campground.

Further, there are often reports of sharks in the deep sections off the west part of the beach.
My dog refuses to go in the water there.

FYI, there is a boat ramp (circled red) which won't require going out of the river to get to Lilley's.

Blue circle is Bray Park ramp.

Thanks Mini, was looking at heading to North West Island from the Lillie’s camp area and just trying to work out the best area to moor the boat off the beach, being fibreglass I won’t pulling it up on the beach

If that is the case best bet is round the corner near the big green patch two photos up.
