why spin ?
Traditionally overheads make the best option for trolling

Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

I purchased a TLD15, and then a cheap trolling rod for about $60. It works well.

Maturity is not when we start speaking BIG things,it is when we start understanding small things
I have considered a overhead but like spin reels better as I find overheads a bit clumsy to hold but that's probly just me
You might be able to get a secondhand Stella or Saltiga for that money if you look about long enough in fleabay or gumtree
I only use the Stella's for spinning and overheads for trolling.

Yeh I get that & they are certainly better when used with a gimbal .
That said - a lever drag overhead has much more flexibility when it comes to setting the drag & usually have an audible ratchet . Opening & closing the bail arm when trolling ( line under tension) is problematic with spin
It's the reason why you don't see a lot of trolling done with spin gear .
