Seafarer Viking with 2004 Mercury 115 Blue Salt Water O/B
Hi guys, just purchased a 1988 Seafarer Viking with a 2004 Mercury 2 stroke
Hull has had an infloor 100 litre tank installed and stringers replaced so hull should be ok(hopefully)
It has a 2004 Mercury 2 stroke with 210 hours, has anyone had any experience with this motor, problems etc?

My 2004 115 Saltwater developed an internal short in the voltage regulator resulting in an engine fire. Quick removal of the engine cowl and a working fire extinguisher was the only thing that prevented flames from reaching the fuel system. I was advised by my local repairer that it was a known issue on that model. I would recommend replacing the regulator.

Not sure if there’s much difference, but my 2005 135 opti had an issue with a swivel bushing that holds the throttle rod/cable to an arm on the motor, all of a sudden on day it liked to pop out under quick acceleration, not a good feeling in a busy channel, I was lucky I hadn’t reached the bar yet.
link to a replacement bush below, apart from that, I love the motor it has been brilliant for us. https://www.crowleymarine.com/parts/5000.cfm
