5.2 Kevla cat hull weight

I have a 5.2 Devilcat and I'm trying to work out performance figures of different 4 strokes, 2 strokes and ETecs. Because there are not many left it's near impossible so the closest size cat is a 5.2 Kevla. Is this a fair comparison?
90hp 2str Yamahas where the ideal match 29yrs ago but they chew the juice, I'm trying to convince myself of which engines to search for but there's nothing to go on! 90hp Suzukis look the perfect match for a Kevla.
I haven't yet weighed the Devilcat hull so it would be interesting to see the difference between the Devil and Kevla!

Most 90HP 4 strokes are far heavier than the 5.2 Kcat is capable of supporting, so bigger pods have been made by a few, your Devilcat doesn't have pods, probably the lightest 4 stroke would be the 70 Yamaha, but you lose 20HP a motor.

A lot of 6.2m kevlacat s Came out with 90 2 strokes so I’d reckon 70 4 strokes would be plenty for a 5.2m

I looked at the review of a 18ft Sharkcat on the Yamaha website at it was working hard with two 70 4strokes!

I looked at the review of a 18ft Sharkcat on the Yamaha website at it was working hard with two 70 4strokes!

I would reckon an 18' Sharkcat would be considerably harder to power than a 5.2. and most 6.2s with 90 Yamaha's were pretty slow.

Were the two 70 4 strokes small or bigger CC engines in the test? this plays a huge roll in the output of the engines, also see if there are any computer upgrades to any of the 70's to increase hp without increasing the weight on the transom

The 70 Yamaha is not a smaller version of another bigger HP, no computer upgrades, it is however quite lightweight, much lighter than the 90, the Suzuki 90 I think is still the lightest available, but, it is near on 40KG heavier than the Yamaha 90 2 stroke. I reckon a pair of 70 Yamaha 4 strokes would be "adequate" certainly no speed boat though, my mate just put one on his Haines that previously had a 70 OMC 2 stroke, and it is better in every area than the old 2 stroke, top speed, torque (hole shot) and quietness and of course fuel economy.

All depends on how far you travel and what speeds you want.
If your only going 20-30km offshore then 70’s might be ok(just)
I rekon 90suzuki is a sweet little engine and probably perfect for the 5.2 . Both KC and devilcat.
You’d mostl likely be disappointed with anything less.
