Mercury Enertia 15 pitch. Online from the usa would be cheapest, or hunt around for a second hand pair.
Hi, I have a 28ft sharkcat with twin F300 on the back. Revs out to 6100 at about 36knts with 15pitch solas 4 blades. 14 1/2 x 15
Wondering what props you would suggest for best economy/performance, and where to purchase?
Getting 2L to the km atm so hoping better suited props will assist?
Thanks

Didn’t think 2l per km too bad for 600hp! I’ve got 150 and slow cruise (44km/h) gets me about 0.45l per km which I’m happy with so you are in that comparative ballpark I would have thought.
The enertia are great props I also have one, but even though they have large blades they are still 3 blade versus the 4 blades on your solas so you may get less lift if that is a concern.

Trying some 3 blade SWS 15 1/4 x 17 today.
Also have some OFS4's on the way
Pics of the boat please!!!
Democracy: Simply a system that allows the 51% to steal from the other 49%.
V6 or V8 F300 ?
It wasn’t a cat and it only had one F300 V6, but the OFS4 suffered from bad ventilation on this boat I was testing (brand new prop), quite unusual for a 4 bld when otter 3 & 4 blds weren’t nearly as bad.
Be interested in your results.

Here we go.
3 Blade got higher top end and better economy.
I think it was due to the larger diameter getting a better grab as well as the better pitch.
Still hit the rev limiter at 6100rpm so will see what the 4 blade 17p gets.

Sounds like it might be worth trying a 3 blade 18p and 19p
I know the are different hulls and motors, I will give you my stats are a reference. Powercat 3000, twin 300 suzuki's, 2.08 gear ratio. Running 3 blade 16 x 20 pitch props. At 3500 RPMs doing 26 knots (48kph) burning 48 lph (combined), 1 liter per kilometer. At fast cruise 3800 RPMs doing 33knots (61 kph) burning 66 lph, 1.1 liter per kilometer. Both with medium load eg 1/2 fuel, 4 POB, full water. I have a level spot from 3500 rpm to 3900 ish depending on conditions 1 liter per kilometer to 1.3 liters per kilometer and anywhere from 26 to 35 knots. Over this range fuel usage goes up exponentially. WOT is 6000 rpm doing 49 knots (90 kph)
Think you are on the right track with bigger diameter props, and more pitch.
Cheers Adam
Hey Mustang5,
I'm getting about the same figures as you on a 3100NC with Twin 250 Yami's loaded with 1200ltrs fuel, 100ltrs water, 160kgs ice, 4 people and gear.
I have tried 3 bladed 15", 17" & 18" so far.
There wasn't much difference between the 17" & 18" as the 18" were slight smaller diameter.
I'm waiting on a set of 19" to trial and see how it goes.
The 19" will probably give me more travel in calm waters but bog me down in rough weather.
Will have to wait and see.
I'm currently running 17" which is giving me 27 to 31 knots @ 4250pm depending on conditions.
Micadogs, they are pretty good figures
Might have to consider Suzuki's next time
1/2 fuel for me is only 300 litres. Huge weight difference there. I also had no ice. Probably 1/2 tonne difference just in gear alone. Not sure what the difference in hull weights are.
Cheers Adam
Thanks, I'm about 4 tonne fully loaded.
