Yeah 80lb
Depth varies from 160 to about 240.
Still fairly fresh with out deeper so still just hunting around when weather permits for some ground.

Thanks Moejoes, I guess it's just something I want to try. What's with the green eye sharks? I have heard of them, are they something I am likely to encounter in that depth off Caloundra?

The wait is finally over.........was worth every minute..........let the RIPTIDE rip..........hell yehhhh
I'd say so.
Never fished the deep off Caloundra but would like to.
My problem is trying to find a park at Bribie due to limited parks I can park in on a weekend unless I leave at 3am.
Use to be great until they built those units next to the ramp
I need to do mid week trips but work gets in the way.
The green eyed sharks are commonly about 1mtr long.
You hardly know you have them on.
Don't know how they chew but have heard they are ok.
I always throw them back. They don't suffer deep water trauma either.
Just bear in mind they are sharks and your bag limit is 1 under 1.5mtrs per person if you get any and want to try them.
Thanks Moejoes, I will also give them a miss I think. I'll wait until I catch something worthwhile. Maybe take a few trips of hunting before success but I am patient.

From memory you tap EARTH and select current option.
Didn't know you got Green Eyes up that far! they are a pest, winding up from deep water to find a stupid little Shark on every hook, they are OK to eat, but I don't eat them myself. Lots of deep dropping goes on down this way, but really deep like 350m plus, main targets are Gemfish, Blue Eye and Hapuka, but lots of "stuff" get caught as well.
Forgot to add, an Alvey Reef King/Queen is probably the best "manual" reel to use, standard over heads are OK, but it takes a very long time to wind up.
