    Goldy Laviathan

It's not too often you get that massive adrenalin rush that sees your legs and hands shaking uncontrollably from a fish.
I managed to feel it the other week when fishing for jacks , As soon as my livie hit the water a fish erupted and took to the air.
Having been a long time since last i caught one on the goldy i'd almost forgotten they were there.

Once realising it was a huge barra i backed off my drag and let it have it's head. Long screaming runs downriver porposing along the surface whilst i started chasing with the electric motor. She settled down after some spactacular gill rattling jumps and i was able to get to work on easing her back to the boat. A couple of smaller runs and half body jumps later and she slid into the net (just). At 110cm it is my biggest barra and on the Goldy!

Been plenty of great jacks around also.

I would have been ecstatic with just the jack, but a barra that size and in these water ways is an amazing catch. Well Done!

Yep was pretty special alright. She took some reviving probably 10mins to come good as i had her out of the water a bit long. I flagged a boat down to come and take the piccy of me holding her. But yes she swam away well after that and i have no doubt she survived.
