OH, and to answer your question about what do the most of us buy...it is not Evinrude, by a very long margin.

And if people think two stroke is the way of the future, explain cars.

Cars are a whole different ball game, a few small 2 strokes popped up, but most fizzled out, I think Suzuki had a 2 stroke Sierra at one time?

Yep, I owned a 3 cyl, 547cc Suzuki LJ50 Four Wheel Drive in about 1978. Even they were oil injected. Jeez, even my Whipper Snipper is a 4 stroke these days, and a helluva lot more reliable than the old 2 stroke.

Power from small capacity, used generally at constant RPM, cost, simplicity and lightweight .
Not terms used for cars but certainly important for tinnies.
Turbines have similar characteristics - except cost, so they'd be excellent in marine use...Navys have been using them for years. Not on tinnies though.

    Noelm,
The others abandoned two stoke because they couldn't make it work or economic decisions were made. It was at a time it was thought that 2s couldn't deliver on emissions.
You are presupposing that only 4 stroke engines can be made to work well. I happen to think that is not the case.
Having sunk so much money and effort, I don't think any one is going to abandon a 4s production line to design a two stroke.
But I am waiting for some innovation.
Evinrude never had that problem. They stayed 2s. All they have done is collect current engineering solutions and incorporated them into a 2s. Direct injection, CPU control and smart combustion chamber design.
Nothing different to what 4s designers do. And it works.
Now the possibility of a supercharged Etec gen 3 really opens the field.

Just look at the facts. Power, economy, emissions and innovation.

I think they all have power, economy, emissions and innovation, I don't say the new e-tec is going to be a dud, it could well be fantastic and sell millions, I am just "crystal balling" my thoughts, Evinrude are sticking with 2 strokes, could pan out to be a master stroke, but then.........

Could you please stop the "lol" after every few words, and at least try to type proper English

Re: best of the best outboards

Thanks Andy. Said it better than I could. Didn't want to mention the E word as there are so many people against them. Not sure why. I agree about innovation. We're just comparing stegasaurus to triceratops here really.

Not having a go at your schooling, and I fully understand "modern" typing jargon, but it just makes things hard to make sense of when you have to jump over bits and stop to cypher out acronyms.
