Honda will never sacrifice weight before reliability, hence their 7 year warranty!! non declining too I might add. Just read the fine print on the other manufacturers warranty for comparison.

Honda does not change models all that often so don't be holding your breath for a new light weight model to appear.

That's just because the use car engines!.

You shouldn't be asking by brand. All have better models in certain hp. What hp do u want?

Almost all 4 strokes are based on a car engine, nothing new or unique about that.

OH and I agree, some HP are standouts in certain models.

you work hard to promote honda spaniard king my friend... and i am pretty staunch for mercury no1 choice.. but i must say honda have been building dirt bikes among other bikes etc for a long time also generators lawn mowers and they are still in my opinion one of the most reliable, good powered, and long lasting of any small or large engine out there i would consider in large hp range a honda..

i think 2 strokes win hands down in smaller hp range, butin higher hp why have a 2 stroke screamin and revving when you got heaps of ponies and torque and smoother quieter and less fuel burn.. but i mainly use smaller portable outboards and i stand my my little 2 stroke...

You can come and see if you can start my Honda mower one day....biggest heap I have ever owned, you have to pull it so much, the pull rope has worn the second housing to bits, I even emailed Honda at one time, and they asked me to take it to an authorized dealer, who had it a few days, replaced the starter housing, but it still wouldn't start, runs like a dream, and if you ever get it started, it will restart in a jiffy, but first time out of the garage, no way, that said, I have friends with all sorts of Honda equipment (including outboards) and all love them.

That's really strange Noelm as I have had my Honda mower and whipper snapper both 4 strokes and they both start really easily ,I have had my buffalo bill mower for 4 years and my whipper sniper for 3 yrs and never had a problem . I am shocked to say the least as I know numerous people with them and they love them ,that's one of the reasons why if I ever repower it will more than likely be a Honda based on there reliability and from personal experience with there products .

You need to find someone who knows what they are doing I think ,sorry to hear of your probs ...Matt

you know yourself noelm everyone has had a dud and yes all manufactures who bring out new models too reguarly in my opinion get a few wrong if we talk about any engine builder we will hear a few who have bought a dud... but overall you gotta look at what the best of the best do more consistently and we can never say for sure we aint gonna get dudded on every transaction...but hey i feel ya mate i nearly through my mower over the creek just today sorry but i gotta say it LOL i thought it was funny.. as i got half a mowed lawn again for buying a $50.00 gumtree mower grrr never again i got a new one awaiting delivery its a cheapie but ill take a punt maybe we can discuss mowers on a different thread ... happy trails..

spaniard king you mentioned a few posts ago that honda wont be bringing out a to many new models? is that as they think they got it right? i always thought if you got a good motor and ive had a few, why change it next year and so on , most might see that as old technology but if you got it right why mess with it..
