Replacing a prop shaft sealing ring in a Watersnake
I have a Mk 1 Jarvis Marine 54lb thrust Watersnake Shadow Electric motor that requires the sealing ring to the prop shaft replaced and was wondering if anyone has had to do it. The Motor Assembly on mine needed respraying so I gave it one. In doing so I removed the prop and the anode from behind it. I found a rubberised sealing ring around the stainless shaft. This ring appears to be slightly tapered, probably to assist in keeping water out. It also has what looks like an anadised spring inside it., Mine had collapsed and so I ordered a couple of new ones. It seems to be stuck in there pretty well and I am not sure if I have damaged it in my attempt to remove it with plyers, hence the possible need for replacement. Therefore I was wondering if anyone has had to replace theirs and if so just how you do it.
