Sorry Peter but I deleted my original post until I could check some details.

Have used this guy in the past and found him thorough, tidy and reasonably priced...

I think I have also used this guy. He was a pommy. Very good. Would recommend him.

Just make sure he seals his joins in wet areas properly - not just with normal heat shrink (no glue).

    Re: electronics and wiring installer?

I am interested in guys that do this professionally also. Since Grand Marlin retired from the game I am not aware of anyone that does high quality work. On almost every boat I have ever seen the wiring left a lot to be desired.

Check out this American built Calcutta CC bay boat. Post 153 and 154 are the standard I think marine wiring should be.

    Re: electronics and wiring installer?

There are plenty of guys around who are capable Lovey but they require two things that are sadly, quite commonly lacking in the Australian marine game - space to fit everything neatly (something that can be pretty hard to come by in your typical Aussie trailerboat) - more space equals an easier - therefore quicker and cheaper job and a client willing to pay for the time to do the job at that sort of standard. Unfortunately, the predominant proportion of punters just want it in and done as cheaply as possible and a lot of marine installers simply end up trapped in this mindset. Even at mates rates a high end total rewire on a basic tinny centre console is going to set you back $1200 - 1500 for labour and materials, a bigger boat dependent on the level of electronic fitout and complexity of wire runs quite possibly well north of $3000 - once again at mates rates. Most punters fall over backwards at these sort of numbers let alone allowing for business rates which would at a guess be a minimum of double. Get a big install and the electronics component of it can run into the tens of thousands. I have literally spent a fortnight sandwitched inside the console of an Assegai game boat to produce this sort of install when I was doing it for a living - just on the electronics.

    G,Day
Just to let you all know. Rang Robin at 5 pm last night about fitting my new sounder. Arranged for him to come to my place today at 12 noon. Arrived right on time, and did the job.
Very happy with the tidy job he did. Very reasonable price too.
Would not hesitate to recommend him.
