I have 2 questions, 1st is the cowling is extremely hard to to take off. it sticks down so hard, i have to stand over the top of it and yank it up quite violently to break the seal, and i have at times sprayed the seal with wd40 to help lock it down, does anyone have any tricks to ease removal?
secondly, typical of mercury, a lot of the bolt heads are rusting, leaving red rust dust everywhere around the power head, so is there a preferred method for cleaning the power head?
Maybe stop spraying anything on the seal to "lock it down"? Cleaning the motor can be done in a variety of ways, from a simple spray with some sort of corrosion inhibitor, to using a brush, and even degreaser and a hose, without hosing like mad of course.
