Sounder for min kota

I have a min kota i pilot with remote and foot controll.

When using the foot control i cannot see my main sounder really well, so i want to put a second sounder up the front.

What is recommended. I dont was to spend really big bucks. Probably do need a gps on it.

Also where is best spot to put the transducer.

image.jpegDon't know how much you want to spend but the older style Garmin Sounders had a transducer mount that suits minn kotas. I use a Garmin up the front and love it.

i just checked out the garmin that u sent the link for.
They look great, especially the 7.

I got the garman 7 inch ecomap. This new one looks better than mine. $500 usd. Thats good price.

I will have to check prices out here and who has them.

I wonder what the diffence is Steven from the one u got to the one Garry was showing.

The one garry had had side image as well.

Maybe i will put the 7 inch eco map up front and buy a new one for main sounder

I noticed that some of the newer models of combos have preloaded maps.......not neccessarily nautical charts.......moose pointed one out last week.

the 7 inch Striker SV was $650 at northside marine not that long ago... I think its the pick of the units, (with the exception of no maps, but maybe that comes next revision).

$629 for 300w of power
$729 for 500w of power

I wonder if there is all that much diffence.

With regard the transducer - personally I think the trolling motor mounted ones are a PITA. Just another cable to make sure doesn't get tangled / twisted up. On my old rig I had both on the transom - cons- boat is 4.5 metres further forward before echo shows. pros - no tangles, sidescan orientation is fixed relative to the boat so you know whats where without looking at the orientation of the electric.

At the moment I just run traditional sounder on the electric. No down view or side view. Works for me but a up grade is always on the cards right.
