    LED Striplight Glowing

I have LED Striplights inside the front of my tinnie to give me some lighting at night. The strip on the starboard side glows dimly when the switch is off. I have checked and double checked wiring and all is as it should be, yet the strips still glow when I connect the battery. Is there a reason that they glow when turned off, the cable to the strip is not running with any other cable so no induction (if that is possible in 12v DC).
Am I missing something or is there some kind of "Phantom power"?
    Real solutions appreciated..

There is half a chance the switch has a bit of salt in it creating a current path (unless the wiring has another issue). Try disconnecting the wire from the switch to see what happens

What Scottar said is quite likely, or, if you have switched the negative, you could be getting tracking to the substrate via the ali hull. What I am referring to as the substrate is the copper foil conductors sitting at the bottom of the strip, with only a thin bit of insulation under it. When you cut the strips, it is easy to have that cut end track to earth. If I am putting them on a conductive surface , I ensure that the very end of the strip is just clear , with silicone under it.

I have seen similar with the cheap strips (especially the eBay Chinese rubbish) but it is the switch that starts the problem, the cheap strip LEDS are very poorly made and insulated, and the switch just lets enough current through to create a "mini" circuit, the better strips are well insulated and do not do this (in my opinion)

Went over everything I could find that had any relation to the circut to the striplights, found a small amount of corrosion and green goop on a "sealed" sidelight that I had on the circut. Did a temporary direct connection to the problem strip - no problem, works as it should, new sidelight and all works well and a good dollop of silicone sealer for good measure.

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated.
