Nice flattie. I must give bribie a go. I have fished there once. Left marina turned left , and couple little islands and a oyster lease. Fished around there. Nothing.
Is it better up near mouth or down where the river comes in?
Cheers

Trying hard to train a backup person for me at work so I can escape to have an occasional fish when the wind isn't howling! Odds are against me every way you look, but I used to be able to catch a few at any time of the day around the tide changes, at all the hotspots you mentioned. Pulled a couple of grassies to 34cm and one tuskie last trip at mud, but that's it. My pb session at Wello is a distant memory, when I arrived at 5am and bagged out by 6am when the limit was still 5 snapper, and returning 60cm fish after that. Lost my mojo? Perhaps. But when I see others out in the desert with the same results... doesn't do much except to say keep trying.

Im heading out tonight ill what I can do for ya...
I used to post a lot, but now facebook has taken over. There are 4 specialised Jack groups for SE Qld, so I post there.
I used to take a camera on the boat and download pics to the pc, then post to ausfish.
Now I take pics on the mobile phone and post to FB from the boat, its much easier.
I just prefer to talk with jack specialists than the wide range of anglers here at ausfish.
I still use ausfish for specialised advice for boats and electronics, the info on hardware is second to none.
But I dont care about reports or comparing dicks anymore.
The flame wars never bothered me. Some of them were fun.
Its been a very good jack season this year, and they are still biting as of last week I got a 42 and 52cm.
Heres a few from the last 2 months. All caught gold coast on mullets strips.
Fishing- It's only an addiction if you're trying to quit.
Scalem my best morning at Green Island was 18 legal snapper caught before 8am and mostly released except for 4 fish, the best would have gone 60cm, great days indeed, I would say that was 2006-2007, but on my results the last 2 years I wouldn't bother going again until I see others catching fish..
I used to post here a lot.. have been a member for a long while now
Enjoyed the Ausfish community and have made some lifelong friends outside of Ausfish - most of who rarely come here now.
In fact some really good things have come out of Ausfish - I now do yearly volunteer medical work with another x-member (both Docs - met on Ausfish) in the South Pacific and have taken over a lot of donated medical equipment and consumables that have been donated by or sourced by other Ausfishers and their contacts.
Reason for me - I had a public disagreement with a moderator on here - who was a very strong personality and I invited him to ban me if he didn't like my comment (cant even remember what it was about now) - to which he did. I think for a while this one was run with an iron fist and a tad too controlling for some. This particular moderator took life a little too seriously and had a chip on his shoulder. Thankfully I have not seen him around either - but lay low now, rarely post here unless someone asks a specific Q I think I can help them on.
There are a lot of other good fishing forums now too - so competition.
I think there is now a fee to register to enable participation - but then there is commercial advertising banners etc on the page too - which would detract from new members I suspect.
If it were me - I would have one or the other... but then I am going back into my box.. for I dont wish to ruffle feathers :-)
Likewise used to post a lot but:
1. Got sick of personality conflicts and mods ruling with an iron fist which took some really informative members off the radar (yes they were perhaps controversial but maybe mods could delete posts rather than outright ban?)
2. Had children and got serious illness for couple years resulting in deceased time to fish or post
3. Too hard basket with resizing photos Etc Etc so posted reports less and less
4. Friends moved to other sites - so did I.
5. No offence to young folk but at times it was like a stroppy teenage kids forum - and I'm only mid 40's age.
6. As per Gecko got sick of reports being criticised and ego bullshit
7. Everyone gets bored in life - everyone needs change and that's just the way of things. Same happens in fishing clubs.
Speaking of change there's a reason I'm back & logged in - was wondering how it's going on here and if the issues above have improved. Can anyone update me with the resizing photos issue?

Sorry point 2 was meant to say "decreased time" not deceased time! Thankfully!!

I check Ausfish daily but seldom post anymore.
The place got too clicky with key personalities and a mod with testicles for brains.......if you were his mate you were a golden child.
The comraderie that this site had started to die when finga opted out........been a long slow run since.
Jack.
4 or 5 years ago Ausfish was fun & informative, I know I learnt a lot from this site and its people and keep in contact with quite a few of them.
Seems everybody thinks the same way, most of the good reporters are all gone, the ones still posting reports are posting elsewhere.
Good bay snapper reports used to go up daily, pretty sure its been about 6 months since the last one.
Dad reckons fishing is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck.
I admit I have moved from posting about every nibble I got to hardly doing a report on here in over a year probably. Not enough people clicking like on my reports. All I bloody got was Wayno telling me he is my brother.....
Funchy you just worry about what day it is mate. That's all you're employed for !!
