70HP Yamaha 2 stroke precision blend Hydraulic tilt ram

Having trouble tilting my 70hp Yammy. The ram seems spongy when I put some pressure on motor when lowering. I am thinking lack of pressure is due to loss of hydraulic oil. I have never had to replace seals,so hoping somebody may be able to give me the heads up. Thanks in advance

Pretty simple to top oil the oil/fluid, just put the motor fully up and undo the little bolt/screw on the side, it can be tricky to get more in, because it's on the side, then cycle it up and down a few times to bleed the air out. Replacing the seals in the ram is reasonably easy, but you need a special tool to unscrew the end cap, it can be done with a home made tool, it can also be a drama to get it all apart because of rust and corrosion.

They seem to use a convoluted method to get any air out but I guess they have their reasons compared to cycling up & down.
I'd be topping up, bleeding, topping up, bleeding a couple of times before pulling it apart.

    Good luck.
