    Brisbane river

Headed down to the river last night to have a quick fish before this weather set in. Managed a dozen really niced sized prawns along with some herring, gar and mullet. Everything but the prawns caught sharks, shark after shark after shark, all between 70cm and about 1m.
First prawn in resulted in a 94cm thread fin and then the remaining prawns turned into Rays, shovel nose etc. the salmon had a mantis shrimp in its guts, seem to get a few big fish that have these in their guts, be nice to be able to catch them for bait. Click image for larger version.

Personally I would rate them just as good as a Jew fish, they don't have an overpowering 'fishy' taste or smell about them even though they look extremely fishy. Very nice fish to eat.

Got another one this morning at 107cm!

My elder brother is an extremely productive fisherman in northern QLD and rates threadfin as the best of all.
