    What cable do I need

    Fellas does anyone know if I can link my furuno 585 to my garmin 751 plotter so when I push the mark key on my sounder it will transfer the position to my plotter if I can what cable do I need.Cheers

    you can use NMEA 0183 (both support it)

    short answer is it wont transfer the marks back to the garmin.


    what will happen is the GPS mark will be stored in the Furuno, and you will have to manually add it to the garmin.

    the furuno will only store 10 marks.

    Honda is right. The Furuno puts out a data sentence called TLL (Target Lat Long) but the Garmin receives waypoint info in WPL (Waypoint Location) so no dice unfortunately. You wouldn't need a cable if they did talk - all the wires for the interface are in the respective power cables. You can hook the output of the Garmin to the input of the Furuno to allow the sounder to save it's own waypoints.
