Have you tried hitting the power button a few times after it has been turned on to adjust the screen brightness?
My faithful furuno 620 has died Push the power button and screen does not light up , checked power supply All good other buttons beep when pressed . Has anyone else had this problem? Is it worth fixing or is it time to part with $$$ and buy again

Thanks Marto. Yeh tried that also no good I am thinking the lcd has died but not sure how much it is to fix
Not the same unit but I had a Furuno 6100 monochrome when they first came out and it did a similar thing but you could just see the outer edges of the display..........I took it in to Taylor marine and they put it in the fridge got it cold plugged it back in got it to work then replaced it under warranty.......seems weird but that's what they did maybe worth a shot?
Confidence.......the feeling you get before you fully understand the situation.
Had a mate just recently with a 620 with the same problem , took it into a furuno dealer and the cost to fix was more than a new 1 .
NOW I,AM GUNNA EATCHA
I had the same problem with a Lowrance, They told me it was $80 an hour to work on it.
Was cheaper to buy a new one.
Yes its not an uncommon problem when the units get older and getting a new one seems to be the only viable option unless you have some specific skills. Can't wait for mine to go so i can get a new one
Check your earth wire

Thanks everyone. Tried all ideas with no luck, I think it's fingered time for a new one . I wish furuno had a side scan unit , Thanks to all
If the unit is beeping when you push the buttons it will be an issue with the unit itself - not the wiring. Colour LCD units are different from black and white LCD's. They rely entirely on internally generated light (apart from some displays known as transflective displays - not what the Furuno uses though) and are typically CFL's (compact fluorescent lamps) in the older equipment. Some of the newer gear has embraced LED backlighting and it will no doubt eventually become the norm but pretty sure the FCV-620 will be CFL. Essentially the two most common failures with CFL backlit equipment are the CFL itself or the circuitry that creates the high voltage required to run the CFL - the latter being the most common of the two. Unfortunately in the modern society we live in, manufacturers don't like to release circuit diagrams and as such fault finding and component level repair is becoming a thing of the past leaving board replacement as the only commercially viable option and parts for nothing are cheap as a general rule. You could try calling someone like Trymax Marine to see if they have had any joy with component level fault diagnosis. Taylor Marine (the importers) will typically only repair by board replacement.
Check for corrosion in the power plug. My 587 wouldn't switch on last time so I gave the power plug connections a clean and it came good. The power connections are pretty fine and any corrosion will upset them
